CBSE CUET orientation programme for school principals, counselors to help guide students

NEW DELHI : Considering it important to equip school principals and counselors with knowledge and skills for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) to guide students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to conduct an offline orientation programme on April 17, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm.

“The Board is organizing a CUET Orientation Program for Principals and Counselors of affiliated schools. This session aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of CUET, its structure, and its implications for undergraduate admissions, enabling educators to guide students more effectively,” the board said.

CBSE noted that the University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced the CUET exam to standardize undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admission processes across participating universities in India. “With CUET being a crucial component of university admissions, it is essential to equip school Principals and Counselors with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively guide students,” it stated.

The objective of the CUET orientation programme are as follows:

• Familiarize school principals and counselors with CUET eligibility criteria, exam pattern, and university admission guidelines to better support students.
• Provide insights on guiding students in selection of CUET UG subjects based on career aspirations.
• Discuss effective preparation strategies, including study plans and resource recommendations.
• Train principals and counselors to address student queries and concerns related to CUET.
• Enhance communication skills to help students manage exam-related stress.

CBSE said that participation is limited to 350 attendees and the selected participants will get confirmation emails. Attendees will have to arrange their travel arrangements and accommodation on their own.
