The CBSE Board introduced the competency-based questions only for Class 12 students, however, Class 10 students claimed after the final exams that the question paper had competency-based questions. The board said that the change in pattern was brought about to help students prepare better for the exam.

To help navigate through the shift in exam pattern, the CBSE board said it uploaded sample question papers for all subjects and model practice questions well in advance on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Additionally, teachers were provided with training, and the CBSE Class 10, 12 date sheet was issued three months before the exam.
