NEW DELHI: The Kerala Government has instructed principals of all colleges to sanitise desks, benches and laboratories before and after examinations are conducted. The instruction was given in the wake of the epidemic caused by the novel coronavirus.
The order given by the College Education Department on Monday asks colleges to provide hand sanitisers and liquid soaps in all areas of the colleges including entry gates, bathrooms, libraries and canteens.
The department has also asked colleges to serve constant reminders to students on washing hands. The reminders are also to be provided through notices and other means.
The Parents Teachers Associations of colleges have also been encouraged to help out in implementing the measures. The order has come in to effect from Monday.
Colleges and universities in Kerala have remained open for examinations despite the health ministry’s proposal to shut down all educational institutions till March 31.
Kerala has recorded 22 positive cases as of Tuesday.
