NEW DELHI: The Kerala government on Friday announced that it has suspended the remaining Class 10 and Class 12 state board examinations as a precaution against the threat of COVID-19, Onmanorama reported.
The decision was taken at a high level meeting chaired by the chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan. The new dates will be announced after March 31.
The state board had scheduled Class 10 and 12 board exams from March 23 to March 26. Exams for Class 11 were also scheduled between these dates.
Over March 18 and 19, the Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ), the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination ( CISCE ) and the state boards of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, all postponed their board exams.
Universities too
Mahatma Gandhi University, Kannur University and Calicut University also rescheduled all exams.
Initially, the Kerala government had planned to continue with the exams despite the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s instruction to stop all examinations till March 31.
The number of active COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 171, with Kerala having 26 patients.
