COVID-19: 27 people test positive on IIM-Udaipur campus

IIM Udaipur director said that infected students have been sent to a COVID-19 quarantine facility on campus.
NEW DELHI: As the second wave of coronavirus hits the country, 27 people at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur campus tested positive on Friday.
As many as 79 coronavirus cases were reported in Udaipur on Friday as per the Rajasthan health bulletin. Apart from students, a member of the non-teaching staff was also tested positive.
IIM Udaipur director, Janat Shah, told Careers360 that the institute is taking all necessary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus on campus. The infected students have been sent to a quarantine facility on campus.
"We are closely observing the situation and are strictly adhering to the government regulated COVID-19 guidelines of compulsory quarantine, face masks (no mask, no entry) and social distancing at the Institute,” Shah said.
To detect COVID-19 cases, the institute is also conducting RT-PCR testing on campus. “We are conducting/scheduling COVID tests at our Institute to ensure safety with regular body temperature recordings of outside staff,” Shah added.
The institute has also requested faculty, staff and students to take the necessary precautionary measures to keep and stay safe.
On Thursday, IIM A dorms were converted into the micro-containment zone after 25 people including students, teachers and a non-teaching staff were tested positive for coronavirus.
