N EW DELHI: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has launched a student helpline portal to connect those who are willing to help with those who need help.
Students who access the website ( https://helpline.aicte-india.org ) can get support for accommodation, food, online classes, attendance, examinations, scholarships, health, transport, sexual harassment etc.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” inaugurated the portal in Delhi on April 3, the Press Information Bureau said in a statement.
All India Council of Technical Education chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe along with student interns Shivanshu and Akash of Graphic Era University who developed the website were present, amongst others.
Pokhrial informed that more than 6500 colleges have already come forward to provide support at a crucial juncture when the country is facing a lockdown due to the COVID-19 infection.
How it works
When students log on the website, they will be directed to pop-ups on queries relating to accommodation, food, online classes, sexual harassment etc. Once they select the category, a new window pops with the names and mobile numbers of volunteers registered on the website. The students who require help can approach them directly.
Other efforts
The HRD minister said many higher educational institutions are coming forward to support the government by empowering healthcare services through their research. The AICTE chairman appealed to voluntary organizations, NGOs, and philanthropists to come forward and render their support. Interested organizations can contact AICTE at: cconeat@aicte-india.org .
