NEW DELHI: The Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) is set to start on May 21. The university entrance test will be conducted from May 21 to May 31. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the universities and colleges to support the commission and the National Testing Agency (NTA) in holding CUET UG 2023. The NTA has also reserved June 1 to 7 for CUET UG in addition.
Saying that UGC may require to utilise university facilities during the CUET 2023 exam days, the commission in a statement said: “CUET is an online computer-based test (CBT) for admission to colleges and universities. All educational partners, institutes, colleges and universities are urged to support UGC and NTA in this national duty.”

Over 200 universities have opted for the CUET UG 2023 for admission to undergraduate programmes so far, up from 90 universities last year.
The 206 universities include 44 central universities and 33 state universities including Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics Karnataka, Cluster University of Jammu, Cotton University Guwahati Assam and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi.
With 14.9 lakh registrations last year, the CUET UG is now the second-biggest entrance exam in the country, surpassing the JEE Main's average registration of nine lakh.
However, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) said it prefers CUET for admission to undergraduate programmes to remain an option for colleges and varsities of the country. AIU Secretary General Pankaj Mittal in a press conference earlier said CUET has not been made mandatory yet and AIU's stand is that it should remain voluntary for the universities or colleges willing to opt for the new system.
