Delhi University, C-DAC join hands for advanced research on AI, ML, quantum computing, cryptography research

University of Delhi: The agreement covers AI, ML, cryptography, and HPC, offering industry exposure, PhD opportunities, academic and project internships for DU students at C-DAC centres.

Download NowNEW DELHI: University of Delhi (DU) and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) signed an agreement to collaborate on academic and research activities. Through this partnership, DU and C-DAC will collaborate on innovative projects, submit joint research proposals, and develop technologies for societal benefit.

The agreement will also include internships, industry visits, higher education, and project opportunities for students. This aims to provide practical experience. “The agreement also emphasises industry-academia integration through internships, industry visits, higher education, and real-world project opportunities, ensuring students gain practical insights and hands-on experience,” the official press release said.
Key focus areas of DU, C-DAC collaboration
As per the institute, under this agreement, DU and C-DAC mutually support research activities and academic programmes through various initiatives. These include:
- State-of-the-art reconfigurable artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) models and hardware-optimised implementations for various domains
- Quantum computing
- Cryptography and post-quantum cryptography
- High-performance computing (HPC)
- Smart card technologies and secure computing
- Engineer, faculty exchange for scientific and technical information flow
- Eligibility for staff to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) (part-time) at DU as per approved guidelines
- Joint supervision of undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students, including coursework and projects at C-DAC or DU
- Collaborative research through participation in nationally and internationally funded projects
- Joint organisation of seminars, workshops, conferences, and training programmes
- Training for students, engineers, and staff of both institutions based on available facilities and resources
- Academic and project internships for DU students at C-DAC centres
- Any other mutually agreed objective in writing by both institutions

The agreement was signed by Vikas Gupta, registrar, University of Delhi, and Vivek Khaneja, executive director, C-DAC Noida, in the presence of Ratnabali K, dean academics, Neelima Gupta, dean faculty of mathematical sciences, and Om Pal, associate professor, department of computer science, University of Delhi. Sourish Behra, scientist F, and Abhishek Tiwari, scientist E, represented C-DAC Noida.
