NEW DELHI: University of Delhi (DU) issues a notice of the academic calendar for UG students in the academic year 2022-23. The first year for all undergraduate courses begins on November 2, 2022.
According the calendar, the practical examinations for students will begin from February 17 to 26, 2023. Immediately after, the students will be writing their theory exams from February 27 to March 15. The students will only get a four-day semester break before beginning their classes for their second semester from March 20, 2023.
Similar to the first semester, the second semester is packed from the very beginning. Semester 2 practical examinations will be held from July 18 to 16 while the theory exams will begin on July 17 and will end on July 28, 2023. The UG students will be getting a two-day semester break from July 29-30, 2023.
In response to the release of the hectic academic calendar, Democratic Teachers' Front, Secretary, Abha Dev Habib said: "Extremely hopeless situation for students and teachers. No vacations/mid-semester breaks for students to assimilate what is being taught!" Habib also blames the imposition of CUET to the university for the late commencement of admissions. She also adds, "Further, over 50 percent admissions may happen after 2 Nov! We are barely ending the second round of CSAS on 3 Nov! Earlier, academic session would start only after 6-8 cut-offs rounds."
Additionally, the delay in PD admission in DU has created a disruption in the workflow of teachers. Habib complains, "This year, for each class we have a different calendar! Non stop work for units, with no segregate periods for examination, evaluation and teaching. Staggered workload also creates pockets of overload."

A stimulated list will be published on October 14 according to the CSAS Phase 3 schedule. The first DU allocation list will be uploaded on the official website on October 18 and the window for accepting the allotted seats will be open from October 19. The first spot round of CSAS allocation and admission will end as late as November 25, 2023. The university may announce more spot rounds on the basis of vacancy.
