Delhi University: Colleges to reopen in a phased manner from September 15

NEW DELHI: The office of registrar at Delhi University (DU) in a notice on Monday announced that DU will reopen colleges in a phased manner from September 15. . But the safety, health and wellbeing of its students, teachers and non-teaching staff is of the utmost importance.

The decision was taken following the guidelines issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) .

The notice reads, “Any plan of transition to offline mode must take into account the prevailing conditions and the specific requirements of the concerned institutions, allowing it to deal with any eventuality arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Furthermore emphasising on the necessity of resuming offline classes it said “Blended offline-online mode of teaching and learning in a phased manner” will be adopted.

Reopening DU Colleges: Guidelines issued

All the students, teachers and non-teaching should be vaccinated with both doses at the earliest. All students entering the campuses should receive a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Libraries may reopen from September 6 but if the seating arrangements are not adequate, books can be issued to the students on a regular basis. The colleges can also consider giving date-time-slot appointments before allowing students to enter the libraries.

Offline classes for practicals and laboratory experiments may be scheduled with maximum 50 percent attendance following the principle of rotation. Only practicals that are absolutely essential to the semester course can be selected.

Attendance for offline classes will not be mandatory. Final year students may be allowed inside campus for placement and consultation purposes, the heads of the institutions need to ensure that at any given time, attendance of 50% is not exceeded.

All colleges are instructed to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols are followed, as mentioned in the DDMA guidelines.
