NCERT revised English language textbook
Meanwhile, NCERT has launched a new English language textbook titled 'Poorvi' for class 6, as reported by Indian Express. Unlike its predecessor, which predominantly featured stories and poems by non-Indian authors, the revised textbook includes nine prose pieces and five poems by Indian authors, all set in Indian contexts.
Developed in accordance with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 and the National Education Policy 2020, the updated textbook reflects a significant shift towards incorporating more Indian perspectives and cultural elements.
The previous NCERT textbook, 'Honeysuckle,' contained a majority of poems and prose pieces by non-Indian authors, with notable works such as 'Fair Play' by Munshi Premchand and 'Banyan Tree' by Ruskin Bond, according to the news agency.
