DU Open Book Exam 2020 for final year rescheduled for July 10

NEW DELHI: The University of Delhi has rescheduled the Open Book Examination (OBE) for all final semester, term, year and ex-students of all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes due to the COVID-19 pandemic for the academic year 2019-20. As per the new dates, the OBE, which was earlier slated to begin from July 1, will now start from July 10. The decision has been taken by the DU officials in the wake of the difficulties that may arise for the students who would be appearing in these exams.

As per DU officials, “The new date sheets for all UG and PG programmes including School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) of final semester/term/year examinations in OBE mode shall be notified by examination branch on July 3, 2020 and examination will commence from July 10, 2020.”

The university will also release mock tests for the students on July 4, so that they become familiar with the procedures of OBE mode, which is to be held remotely. The examination branch of the University of Delhi will also release a separate notification pertaining to all details of the mock tests for OBE before the exam begins.

Apart from the new dates related to the OBE and the availability of the mock test, rest of the events and procedures of DU OBE remain the same, as notified by the authorities via different notifications and press releases. “All other activities/facilities notified by examination branch related with OBE mode of examinations adopted as one-time measure for academic session 2019-20 through various notices/notifications shall remain unchanged and no further notification shall be issued either as corrigendum or amendment,” reads the release.

This year, the Delhi University has decided to hold Open Book Exam for all final year students of all undergraduate and postgraduate courses (including students registered with SOL and NCWEB) due to the spread of COVID-19. However, the first and the second year students will be promoted (without taking conventional exams) to the next year based on evaluation of their internal assessment and marks scored in the previous semester.
