Earn while you learn: BBA at the workplace from IGNOU

NEW DELHI: At a time when jobs are shrinking, the Indira Gandhi National Open University, or IGNOU, has come up with an undergraduate programme which helps management aspirants earn while they learn.
In collaboration with the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), IGNOU is launching "Bachelor of Business Administration (Services Management)” from July, 2020.
Promoted by the Maharashtra government, MKCL runs career-oriented programmes to create workforce for a knowledge-based economy.
Course overview
Uniqueness of the 3-year, six-semester BBA (Services Management) course is that students can gain practical skills while working in a service industry for three years. They will also get a monthly stipend for three years, as per industry norms.
The first three semesters look at the fundamentals of management, marketing, communication and quantitative and IT skills.
The next three semesters focus on managing service operations and related skill sets required for a successful career.
The students also get an opportunity to work in real life work environment while pursuing the course and will be mentored by industry professionals.
Eligibility and admission
The eligibility for the BBA (Services Management) programme is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized institution. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age as on July 1, 2020.
Admissions will be done through a written test followed by an interview.
The programme also requires the students to be either working or willing to work in the services industry as a full-time intern, apprentice or as employees.
On completion of the programme, the student will get a BBA degree from IGNOU and a work experience certificate from the company concerned.
The course fee is Rs 20,000 per year.
