Google, Coursera collaborate to offer Career Certificates to enhance digital skills

Google’s certification platform Grow with Google is offering certifications in IT Support, Data Analytics, Project Management, UX design, and IT Automation.
NEW DELHI: Google has partnered with Coursera to offer ‘Google Career Certificates’ on its certification platform, Grow with Google . Google announced the launch of the programme during its seventh edition of Google for India, today. The Career Certificate programme will help fresh graduates hone their digital skills.
Currently, the certification platform offers Career Certificates in IT Support, Data Analytics, Project Management, UX design, and IT Automation.

Those who are interested to join any of these courses can join by paying an application fee of USD 14 dollars per month by subscription on Coursera.
The Career Certificates programme offers professional training designed by Google and the opportunity to connect with top employers, the official website said.

Google also plans to offer scholarships for 1 lakh students for these courses and connect them with job opportunities through a consortium of companies.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MoS for Electronics and Information Technology, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said in a virtual message: “We believe that to have a trillion-dollar economy, it is important to focus on skilling and talent development and the entire ecosystem of human resourcing and capabilities that India needs to be a significant digital economy player in the world.”

Union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan said during the event: “I am impressed by the fact that Google is looking to launch an employer consortium to facilitate employment after a candidate completes a Google Career Certificates course.”
Talking about the programme, Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google said in a tweet: “At #GoogleForIndia, we shared how we're supporting a more inclusive digital economy by expanding access to Google Career Certificates and helping small businesses. We also introduced India-first features like vaccine appointment bookings on Google Assistant.”
