The university has also put on hold plans to start classes in blended mode.
NEW DELHI : The University of Hyderabad, on Wednesday, announced that it has decided to pause the return of postgraduate students and research scholars as the Telangana Government ordered educational institutions to be shut amid rising COVID-19 cases.
The university has made an exception for research scholars of the 2020 batch who will be allowed to return. It has also put off plans to start classes in blended mode(online and offline) until further communication.
The university said that around 1,200 students, including research scholars and postgraduate students are currently in the campus for their practical, laboratory, project or thesis work. It said that departments which are in the process of completing practicals can do so following COVID-19 protocols
University of Hyderabad Vice Chancellor Appa Rao Podile, in a statement, said: “The academic units that are in the process of completing the practical inputs may continue to do so by strictly following all Covid protocols. All students, faculty, and staff are requested to follow the health protocols already circulated by the Task Force for your own safety and that of others.”
The university also said that students who are anxious about the rising COVID-19 cases can return to their homes and that the university will ensure continuation of classes through online mode.
It also said that mock drills will be conducted to check the health emergency response system in place in the campus.
