ICFAI launches BBA-MBA, BCom-MBA and BSc Data Analytics programmes

NEW DELHI: ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, a deemed-to-be university, is launching two five-year integrated programmes, BBA-MBA and BCom-MBA, and a three-year undergraduate programme, BSc Data Analytics, at its off-campus center in Bengaluru. ICFAI Business School (IBS) has received government permission for its Kengeri Campus in Bengaluru from this year, 2021.

All three programmes will admit students straight after Class 12. Students with a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12 and from an English-medium background are eligible to apply for the five-year management programmes. For BSc Data Analytics, the applicant should have studied mathematics till Class 12. Students awaiting their Class 12 results can apply as well.

All three programmes come with multiple exit options. In the case of the five-year programmes, students can exit after the third year with a BBA or BCom degree . The degrees will be awarded by the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (Deemed-to-be University), Hyderabad.

The data analytics course is divided into six semesters and three levels and students can exit after any. Those who successfully complete the first can exit with a certificate; those exiting after the second get a diploma and those who complete all three years earn a BSc degree. Students can also enter this programme at the start of any level provided “they have the required credits from other universities”, says a statement from ICFAI Deemed-to-be University. “A suitable program chart will be created to manage the units and Academic Banking Credits (ABC) for students entering at level two and three,” adds the statement.

The Academic Bank of Credit was introduced by the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and was formally launched by the prime minister Narendra Modi on the first anniversary of the adoption of NEP 2020 on July 31. The ABC allows for multiple entries and exits to and from academic programmes and institutions.

For all three programmes, “focus will be on communication skills, critical thinking, inter personal skills and a good understanding of the domain knowledge with focus on applications to the real world”, said J Mahender Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education.

Reddy further said: “The off campus centre will work closely with the headquarters in Hyderabad for adoption of the best practices to ensure quality education in the Bengaluru centre. To sum up, this off campus centre has the necessary infrastructure, faculty and good leadership to help the future students of this centre to achieve excellence in their chosen field and develop themselves into well-rounded personalities ready for a successful career.”
