IIIT Delhi hosts 5th edition of international conference 'InnoHEALTH' 2022

NEW DELHI: Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D) hosted and co-organised the InnoHEALTH 2022 along with InnovatioCuris (IC) on December 9 and 10, 2022. The theme of the event was digital Health in line with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.

The event was attended by policymakers, healthcare thought leaders, providers, academicians and scientists and innovators who discussed on topics including healthcare delivery, health research and development, affordable treatment, and digital health infrastructure in the country.

The event hosted deliberations on domains such as digital health, including universal health coverage, artificial intelligence, healthcare data, ethics, and inclusion and digital skilling of the healthcare workforce. Such topics aligns with the goals and objectives of the National Health Policy (NHP) 2017, National Education Policy 2020, and the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission to create a digital infrastructure for providing healthcare services across the country.

IIIT-Delhi signed an agreement with ScanBalt during the conference with an aim to develop cooperation in the digital health field jointly. The collaboration will help in exchanging best practices through meeting, public webinars between EU and India.

The InnoHEALTH 2022 conference saw a long line-up of speakers and panels during the two-day event. The speakers addressed the gathering in 8 sessions with topics such as digital health implementation and case studies, artificial intelligence and Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) implementation challenges and opportunities, InnovateHER: inspiring women leaders in digital health, digital health services for non communicable diseases and preventive health care, getting healthcare data right, counselling by effective communication in wellness, preparing Indian healthcare workers for digital services and code of medical ethics.

The InnovatioCuris foundation of healthcare and excellence and Arvind Lal Vandana Lal (ALVL) foundation jointly organised “Young Innovator Award”. The award received a total of 102 nominations from various parts of India. The innovations included Clip-on light tracker (MyLyt) for estimating light exposure in real time, Embedded device to detect harmful gases and dangerous situations in coal mines, Micro ECG – A compact and portable ECG machine, prescribe diets for reducing the glycemic index and detect diabetic complication issues using machine learning and neural networks, reduce fluorine levels in the drinking water through natural fluorine filter (water pot) and natural materials, IoT based device to track leg motion activity of normal and orthotic person and suggest an exercise based on their gait analysis.

Speaking on the occasion, IIIT-Delhi, director, Ranjan Bose said: “By pursuing a cohesive, sustainable approach with the help of new-gen technologies, healthcare delivery is witnessing rapid innovation and improved outcomes. Embracing such innovative technologies, the digital-first approach can enhance patient-centricity and is the need of the hour”. He also added that “IIIT-Delhi started the Centre of Excellence on Healthcare two years back. Since then, the centre has been making tremendous progress in this space. The centre also designed WashKaro app which was very useful during the Covid times. Two faculty members from the Institute were also on the team to develop the Delhi Governments' official Delhi Corona App.”
