IIIT Delhi increases PhD fellowship to Rs 60,000 per month to improve research culture

IIIT Delhi: The move surpasses the UGC and DST standards designed for research culture to ensure scholars have financial security.
NEW DELHI : The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi has taken steps to imporve research culture by raising the PhD fellowships from Rs 37,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. The move surpasses the University Grants Commission (UGC) and department of science and technology standards designed for research cultures and ensure scholars have financial security to dedicate themselves to research.
“IIIT Delhi is committed to creating a research ecosystem that nurtures curiosity, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourages global engagement,” the IIIT Delhi statement said.
IIIT Delhi invites research aspirants to join PhD programme and contribute to the future of technology.
Ranjan Bose the director of IIIT Delhi says: “The increased PhD fellowship aligns with the vision of advancing research excellence by attracting the best students in the country, fostering high-quality, impactful research, and empowering our students to make meaningful contributions to global scientific progress.”

IIIT Delhi Phd fellowship benefits
According to IIIT Delhi statement, with an increase in fellowship scholars will get other benefits as follows:
- Offers highest fellowship in the country of Rs 60,000 per month including HRA.
- Additional Rs 1.5 lakh support for international lab visits, providing work opportunities with top researchers worldwide
- Offers professional development allowance (PDA) of Rs 2.5 lakh to enable scholars to present their work at various platforms.
- Offers research contingency grant of Rs 20,000 per year for five years to cover essential research expenses
- One time laptop grant of Rs 50,000 to equip scholars with necessary tools
- Access to the best class labs, high-performance computing resources, and advanced research tools.
- An opportunity to work on problems across AI, computational biology, cybersecurity,
- human-centered design, mathematics, and social sciences in collaboration
- with industry partners and global institutions.
- The faculty offers guidance and mentorship to help scholars shape their research careers.
