IIM Lucknow launches 3 Tech MBA, AI programmes; JEE Advanced must for BS in AI and Business Analytics

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has launched three new programmes on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Tech Master of Business Administration (MBA). The Union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, unveiled the new AI and Tech MBA courses at the Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave 2026.

The initiative aims to integrate advanced AI research, consultancy, and management education for AI leaders, the official IIM Lucknow statement said.

IIM Lucknow’s three new AI programmes , along with their eligibility requirements, are as follows.

  • The 4-year BS in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics programme will be introduced for the academic year 2026-27, and is designed for Class 12 graduates with a qualifying rank in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced .
  • The 2-year Tech MBA will be launched in the upcoming academic year 2027-28.
  • The 5-year BS + Tech MBA integrated programme is for students enrolled in the BS (AI and BA) programme at IIM Lucknow, who will have the option of completing both degrees in 5 years.

IIM Lucknow’s AI courses

According to the official IIM Lucknow statement, at the individual level, these programmes aim to equip students with the skills to embed AI into core business functions, while inculcating both “digital leadership and an entrepreneurial mindset.”

At a broader level, the new AI programmes support India’s key digital initiatives, including “Digital India” and the “IndiaAI Mission”.

Speaking about the initiative, the director of IIM Lucknow M P Gupta said that the new AI programmes blend business acumen with technological depth through a “thoughtfully designed modular course curriculum.”
