IISER Bhopal showcases research, teaching facilities at maiden open house

The open house was organized for high school, college students, teachers, parents, industries to experience teaching, research at IISER Bhopal.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal organized its open house through the centre for science and society (CS2) on Saturday, November 5, 2022.
The primary aim of the event was to provide a platform for high school, college students, teachers, parents, industries to experience teaching and research facilities at IISER Bhopal. The Institute showcased its science, engineering, humanities, and economic sciences research and teaching facilities to attendees via live experiments, scientific demonstrations, lectures, and exhibitions.

Interested students from class 8 to college students along with parents, teacher, and industry professionals signed up for the event online. The open house saw almost 1,400 visitors that took this opportunity to visit the campus and explore various facilities. The campus tour included research and teaching facilities such as central instrument facility (CIF), Multi-media classrooms, museum, and central library was organized for school and college students.
The Institute also conducted live demonstrations for experiments and all-day poster sessions from various departments. In addition to this, the IISER Bhopal faculty members also organised pre-recorded talks and competitions like quizzes, open mic, and interactive sessions for the students and visitors.

The organisers and volunteers of the event were active throughout the day to assist and answer questions by the visitors. The event concluded with a talk on “IISER Bhopal: Your Next Destination” by IISER Bhopal, department of chemistry, associate professor, Saptarshi Mukherjee.
Speaking during the inaugural of the event, IISER Bhopal director, Shiva Umapathy said: “This is a great opportunity for students to get an experience of modern-day science and research facilities at IISER Bhopal.”
