Download NowThe Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the University of Liverpool have signed an agreement to strengthen academic collaboration and expand joint research initiatives across key technology domains.

As per the official press release, the collaboration builds on a recent faculty delegation visit from the University of Liverpool to IIT Delhi, where researchers from departments including biochemical engineering, biological sciences, and biomedical engineering held discussions to identify potential areas of joint work.
IIT Delhi said that under the agreement, both institutions will work together to identify areas where their research capabilities complement each other, enabling the launch of joint innovation projects and strengthening academic cooperation between India and the United Kingdom. The partnership is expected to open new avenues for collaborative research and institutional engagement.
IIT Delhi: Agreement to boost joint research collaboration
The understanding was formalised by Tariq Ali, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for global engagement and partnerships at the University of Liverpool, and Anil Verma, dean of international relations at IIT Delhi. The collaboration will focus on priority domains such as quantum technologies, biomedical systems, diagnostics, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Commenting on the development, Professor Tariq Ali said the partnership brings together two leading research institutions. “This partnership is an opportunity to advance knowledge and innovation,” he said, noting that both sides will explore cutting-edge areas of research.
Professor Anil Verma highlighted the role of global partnerships in advancing scientific work. “Global collaborations play an important role in advancing innovation,” he said, adding that the initiative would support impactful research efforts addressing shared challenges.
The IIT Delhi press release said that the collaboration is expected to facilitate joint projects, academic exchange, and sustained engagement between faculty and research teams, contributing to long-term advancements in science and technology.
