IIT Delhi technology enables reuse of N95 masks

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi’s startup, Chakr Innovation, has developed a technology to disinfect and enable the reuse of N95 masks.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Institute of Virology has successfully tested the technology.
The device will be launched on July 10, 2020. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey will be joining as the chief guest along with the IIT Delhi director V Ramgopal Rao.
An online panel discussion in collaboration with IIT Delhi and FICCI will also take place on the topic "Sustainability in the times of Pandemic: Decontamination and Reuse of N95 Masks for a Healthier Planet" said the statement and the panel will be moderated by Ajai Chowdhry, Padma Bhushan Awardee, Founder HCL.
“IIT Delhi has been found to achieve complete virus inactivation against SARS-CoV-2 and other pathogens, without affecting the fit and filtration efficiency of the mask (validated by SITRA)” also mentioned in the statement.
