IIT Gandhinagar invites applications for interdisciplinary MA, MSc programmes
IIT Gandhinagar has opened admissions for MSc in Cognitive Science, MA in Society and Culture. Last date to apply is January 20, 2022.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar has called for applications for its interdisciplinary programmes - MSc in Cognitive Science and MA in Society and Culture. The last date to apply for both the masters programmes is January 20, 2022.

Cognitive Science is a rapidly emerging field that works at the intersection of philosophy, psychology, computer science, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence while the Society and Culture programme offers exposure to major disciplines within the humanities and social sciences such as history, culture studies, literature, translation studies, sociology, political science and anthropology.
IIT Gandhinagar: Career opportunities and research options
MSc in Cognitive Science
- Industry roles such as Educators, User Experience (UX), Linguistic analysts, Data analysts, Product developers or designers, AI engineers, Cognitive rehabilitation, Robotics, consumer behavior etc.
- Academic roles such as Teaching or Research in Human-Computer Interface, Neuroscience, Decision Making, etc.
- International PhD in opportunities

MA in Society and Culture
- Working with non-profit (NGOs, policy think-tanks), industry roles such as Journalism, Advertising or media, Communications, Writing, Human resources.

- International PhD in opportunities
Highlighting the unique qualities of these two courses, Professor Jaison A Manjaly, Head, Discipline of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Gandhinagar , said: “The interdisciplinary nature of all the courses at IIT Gandhinagar makes a student's learning experience highly enriching. The MA in Society and Culture offers students diverse perspectives on social and cultural factors with a nuanced and more in-depth understanding of their context. The MSc in Cognitive Science, on the other hand, offers a deeper understanding of mind, brain, and cognition. These programmes are also uniquely aligned to the IITGN's vision to enable lifelong learning among the students.”

For financial support, eligible candidates admitted to these courses can apply for the ‘On-Campus Employment Opportunities Program’. IIT Gandhinagar also encourages the students to present their research work at national and international conferences, and provides travel scholarships of up to Rs 60,000.
