IIT Madras 58th convocation on November 20; Olympic Medalist PV Sindhu to be chief guest

This year, IIT Madras will confer awards to 1,962 students. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras, will present the annual report at the convocation ceremony.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras will conduct 58th convocation in virtual mode at 6 pm on November 20 (Saturday). Olympic Medalist and Badminton World Champion PV Sindhu, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna and Padma Bhushan Awardee, will be the chief guest.
Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, IIT Madras, will present the annual report at the convocation ceremony. This year, the institute will confer degrees to 1,962 students.

Last year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, IIT Madras for the first time in its history conducted the 57th convocation in mixed-reality technology. Over 2,300 were awarded graduate degrees. And, David J Gross, Nobel laureate and Chancellor's Chair of Theoretical Physics, University of California, was the chief guest in 2020.
IIT Madras has re-launched the Master of Science (MS) in Entrepreneurship programme and the last date to apply at the website - research.iitm.ac.in for the programme is November 30.
Notably, IIT Madras retained the top spot among institutes all over India for the third consecutive year in the NIRF ranking 2021.
As per recent reports, IIT Madras Professor RI Sujith has become the first Indian to be awarded the Distinguished Fellowship of International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV) which is awarded to individuals with distinguished careers in acoustics (and/or) vibration.
