The general category cutoff for IIT Madras Civil Engineering closed at 6,112 in 2025, reflecting a largely stable trend over recent years
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is among the most sought-after IITs for engineering aspirants. Candidates seeking admission to its BTech civil engineering programme can use previous years' JoSAA closing ranks to gauge their admission prospects and make informed choices during the counselling process.
An analysis of the previous four years' closing ranks shows that the general category cutoff for IIT Madras BTech civil engineering has remained largely stable, fluctuating between 5,688 and 6,132. Similar trends can be observed across OBC, SC, and EWS categories, indicating relatively consistent demand for the programme.
For the academic year 2026-27, JoSAA has released both the round 1 and round 2 mock seat allotment results , enabling candidates to assess their probable seat allocation based on their current preferences and make necessary changes to their choices. Meanwhile, the registration and choice-filling process for JoSAA Counselling 2026 concluded today, June 11, 2026.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) oversees the seat allocation and admission process for candidates seeking entry into IITs , National Institute of Technology (NITs) , Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and various Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).
This year, a total of 67,323 engineering seats are available through JoSAA 2026 . The authority has also introduced 4,470 additional BTech seats compared to the previous year.
JoSAA Counselling 2026: Important dates
JoSAA will conduct data verification and reconciliation on June 12, 2026. The round 1 seat allotment result is scheduled to be announced on June 13, after which candidates allotted seats will be required to complete online reporting, fee payment, and document upload procedures. The round 2 seat allotment result will be declared on June 30, 2026.
