IIT Madras establishes unified centre for placements, internships, entrepreneurship
IIT Madras’ Career Pathway Centre will provide comprehensive training, networking, entrepreneurial ventures and enhanced employability.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Madras) has established a ‘Career Pathway Centre’, which will integrate all placement, internships and student career development activities, including the student-run entrepreneurship cell (E-Cell).
IIT Madras students will now be able to access services of Career Development Cell and Entrepreneurship Cell on a unified platform The centre will benefit students by providing comprehensive training, networking opportunities, entrepreneurial ventures, and enhanced employability.
The centre presents a range of skill development programs, covering activities such as resume building and mock interviews along with opportunities to connect with a broad network of industry professionals and potential investors.
The Career Pathway Centre aims at empowering students to independently navigate and decide their future journey, the IIT Madras said. It has been designed to provide students with knowledge, essential skills, and exposure to an entrepreneurial environment, all located in one facility.
Key functions of centre
- Professionally equip students with skill development by CD Cell
- Honing the entrepreneurship efforts of potential student fraternity by E-Cell
- Facilitating hiring of students by recruiters for placement and internship by placement and internship (P&I) office
IIT Madras dean (students) Sathyanarayana N Gummadi said, “The centre with its three verticals will provide a dynamic platform for exploring both traditional career paths and entrepreneurial opportunities. Our aim is to inspire students to pursue their aspirations, whether it is launching a start-up or building a successful career in established enterprises.”

The students will also get an opportunity to Participate in career development workshops where they will be able to connect with a varied group of mentors comprising accomplished entrepreneurs and experienced professionals.
These workshops will also aim at encouraging innovation, enterprise, and entrepreneurship by actively nurturing and assisting the growth of start-ups.
