Jamia’s 2 professors, 1 alumnus receive Delhi Urdu Academy awards

Mohammad Asaduddin, Shamsul Haque Usmani, and Aadil Hayat are the recipients of the Urdu Academy Awards.
NEW DELHI: Three people from Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) including a current and a former professor and one alumnus were honored for their literary contributions at the Urdu Academy Awards, organized by the Government of Delhi on July 6, 2023. The award ceremony took place at the auditorium of the Delhi Secretariat in IP Estate.

Among the awardees were Mohammad Asaduddin, a professor from the Department of English who was presented with the Translation for the year 2021-22 award by the Urdu Academy, Government of Delhi. Shamsul Haque Usmani, a retired professor of the institution, was presented with the Pt Brij Mohan Dattataria Kaifi award for the year 2021-22. Aadil Hayat, an alumnus of JMI, received the award for Children's Literature for the year 2019-20 from the Urdu Academy.

The Vice Chancellor of JMI, Najma Akhtar, congratulated the awardees and expressed her best wishes for their future endeavors.
Previously, Abdul Naseeb Khan, secretary to the vice chancellor of JMI, and Anisur Rahman, a former professor of English at JMI, received the Urdu Academy, Delhi's Award for Translation in the years 2018 and 2019, respectively.
