Kerala higher education reform committee seeks suggestions from students, research scholars

NEW DELHI: The Kerala higher education reform committee has invited suggestions and opinions from students, teachers, parents and educators on changes to be made in the higher education system in the state.

“The commissions set up for the comprehensive reform of the higher education sector in the state are in the process of gathering views from all angles,” R Bindu, Kerala higher education minister said in a tweet.

The committee has formed questionnaires for students, research scholars, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders “to understand the problems in the higher education sector of Kerala state and to seek appropriate remedies.”

The commission will use the submitted information to take measures for the improvement of higher education in Kerala, it said in the forms.

The undergraduate and postgraduate students have been asked about their gender, location, parental income, course, type of course, college, university, etc. in the questionnaire.

In the questionnaire for parents, the committee has asked them about their personal as well as academic details such as educational qualification, college, along with employment, place of work, educational details of their children.

In case of research scholars, they have been asked about their degree, college, year of completion of study, current position, area of research, years of service in current position apart from personal details.
