After paper leak, Maharashtra TET likely to be held online: Education minister Dadaji Bhuse

Maharashtra school education minister Dadaji Bhuse announced that after the paper leak, the Maharashtra TET 2026 is likely to be held in online mode. He also announced that the state government will set up a committee, chaired by the chief secretary, to establish the necessary infrastructure for conducting the TET and all other examinations online, ensuring transparency from the coming year onwards.

Under fire over the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) question paper leak 2026 , the Maharashtra government told the assembly it is examining the possibility of invoking the stringent anti-organised crime law, the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), against the accused in the case.

Bhuse, who is facing calls from the Opposition for resignation in the wake of the TET paper leak, made a statement in the legislative assembly, which is having its monsoon session in Mumbai.

Mah TET Paper Leak: SIT probe on

Bhuse said three accused have been arrested so far and they are in police custody, while a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing the case.

"If anyone is found guilty in the TET paper leak case, action will be taken against all of them. The government is examining whether the MCOCA can be invoked against the accused," the minister said.

Under MCOCA, invoked against anyone linked to an organised crime syndicate, it is harder to secure bail, while police get extended time to file a chargesheet.

On June 27, the police received information that certain individuals were coming to sell the question paper for the Mah TET scheduled for June 28 . Bhuse informed the assembly that, on receiving the information, the police laid a trap and apprehended the accused who were attempting to sell the TET question paper.

Upon confirmation from senior officials of the education department, it was confirmed that the seized papers were indeed the question papers for the examination scheduled for June 28, 2026.

Police teams sent to Bihar, Delhi for investigation

Minister added that a case was registered at the Kolgaon Police Station in Ahilyanagar district on June 27 under Sections 6 and 8 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, 1982, for allegedly obtaining the TET question paper illegally, collecting large sums of money from candidates and possessing the paper for distribution.

According to the official press release, as part of the probe, two police teams have been sent to Bihar, besides one each to Haryana and Delhi to track down other accused involved in the racket.
