NCERT invites applications for National ICT Awards for school teachers, teacher educators

National ICT Awards: Teachers can submit their entries for 2020 and 2021 on the official websites ictaward.ncert.gov.in or ncert.nic.in by June 30.

NEW DELHI: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is inviting applications from school teachers and teacher educators for National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Awards for 2020 and 2021. School teachers and teacher educators will be awarded for integration of ICT in bringing change in teaching, learning, and assessment practices. They can send their entries on the official website of ICT award – ictaward.ncert.gov.in or NCERT website – ncert.nic.in. The last date to submit entries is June 30.

“Decoding Implementation of NEP-2020: Dear Teachers and Teacher Educators, have you used and integrated #ICTs to - Bring in a change into teaching, learning and assessment practices?,” NCERT tweeted.

“Create an equitable and inclusive learning environment for specially all, including specially abled children? Keep the light of education ignited despite the adversities? ICTAward is here to recognise and acknowledge your innovative efforts!,” it added.

The National ICT Award is given every year in order to motivate teachers to use ICT in school education in a big way. A selection process is followed for short-listing and recommendation of the required number of awardees to the Ministry of Education (MoE), as per the official website of ICT award.

The award proposes to felicitate those teachers and teacher educators who have enhanced student learning by effectively and innovatively integrating technology supported learning into the school curriculum and subject teaching, and thereby promoting enquiry-based cooperative-collaborative learning using ICT amongst students, the website said.

Eligibility criteria for award

  • Teachers of primary, upper primary, secondary, higher secondary schools and Teacher Educators from the following organizations are eligible to be nominated for the award:

  • Schools run by the state government, Union Territory (UTs) administration, schools run by local bodies, private schools affiliated to state boards, aided by state government, UT administration.

  • Central Government schools - Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), schools under the Central Tibetan Schools Administration (CTSA), Sainik schools and schools run by Ministry of Defence (MoD), schools run by Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES).

  • Schools affiliated to Council for Indian Schools Certificate Examination (CISCE)

  • Schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)

  • Teacher educators of BIETs, DIETs, CTEs, IASEs, SIEMAT, SCERT, SIEs, SIETs and colleges, universities run by Centre, state government or UT administration and private universities ( from 2021 onwards).

  • SPDs or education secretaries of states, UTs for best practices by respective state, UT( from 2021 onwards).
