NEW DELHI: Supreme Court will hear the plea on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) postponement today, February 24. NEET PG 2023 aspirants want the exam to be deferred by two to three months as there will be a huge gap from exam date to counselling and postponing the exam would be a respite to the aspirants. Although the Supreme Court is hearing the matter today, the union minister of health and family welfare (MoHFW) Mansukh Mandaviya earlier in February told the Lok Sabha that NEET PG 2023 will not be postponed as deferring it would further delay the exam and counselling process caused due to Covid-19.

Doctors' bodies including FAIMA and FORDA want the exam to be postponed. Aviral Mathur, President of the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) said that the medical entrance examination should be postponed in order to give enough time to to aspirants to prepare for the exam. He added that the postponement of NEET PG 2023 will not delay the NEET counselling process.

The union health ministry has extended the MBBS internship cut-off date to August 11 for NEET PG 2023. The National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBSEMS) has extended the mandatory internship cut-off date twice. First, it was extended from March 31 to June 30, 2023.
