NEW DELHI : Amid the requests to cancel the third round of NEET PG counselling and conduct of fresh admissions, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has updated the seat matrix of postgraduate medical courses for the academic session 2024-25. The Supreme Court today issued a notice to the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in relation to the case, as per Live Law.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and K Vinod Chandran were hearing petitions wherein the aspirants argued that they were left with lesser seat options in MCC NEET PG round 3 counselling due to alleged seat blocking and delayed MP NEET PG counselling .
Candidates who have applied for the National Eligibility Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG) counselling 2024 can check the revised NEET PG seat matrix on the official website, nmc.org.in. The new NEET PG seat matrix 2024-25 mentions state, name of college, institute’s address, name of university, name of course, and the number of total seats.
Meanwhile, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has extended the last date for reporting for the third round of NEET PG 2024 counselling till 11:55 pm of February 4, 2025. “MCC of DGHS, MoHFW is in receipt of many requests from Candidates for extension of reporting process for Round-3 of NEET-PG Counselling, 2024. Keeping in view of the said requests, the Competent Authority has decided to extend the reporting process till 11:55 PM of 04.02.2025,” said MCC in an official notice.
NEET PG counselling: Why aspirants seek cancellation?
More than 75 NEET PG aspirants have moved the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of NEET PG round 3 counselling , over delay in Madhya Pradesh (MP) NEET PG counselling. Candidates argued that they have been deprived of a “fair chance” as the MCC NEET PG round 3 seat allotment is out already while MP NEET PG third round is yet to be conducted.
NEET PG admissions: Domicile quota cancelled
The top court recently held the domicile-based reservations in NEET PG admissions “unconstitutional” and cancelled the quota, ordering states to conduct merit-based admissions. The new rule, however, will not affect the students who have already secured PG seats under this quota, the apex court clarified.
MP NEET PG counselling stuck at round 2
Several candidates have expressed the fear of losing seats in both state quota and the All India Quota (AIQ) as a result of delayed MP NEET PG counselling . The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) MP is yet to complete the second round of admissions.
