NEW DELHI: The ranks of candidates have significantly changed in the re-revised or the final National Eligibility Entrance Test-Undergraduate results ( NEET UG 2024 final results ) declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday. The NEET revised result 2024 announced on NTA’s official website, neet.ntaonline.in, has left a few students “disheartened” with lowers ranks while others were pleasantly surprised to find that they have climbed in the AIR, improving their chances of securing an MBBS seat in a government medical college.

This is the third time NTA announced the undergraduate medical entrance exam result, with the first version of the NEET UG 2024 results announced on June 4 and another NEET result on July 1 for 1,563 candidates who sat for a re-exam on Supreme Court’s order. The testing agency has now published the NTA NEET revised results 2024 after the Supreme Court asked for revision in answer key and results due to a physics question . NTA also released the NEET UG revised final answer key 2024 today, for the national-level exam held on May 5.
The Supreme Court on July 23 rejected the petition to cancel NEET UG 2024 and asked the NTA to upload the revised NEET UG merit list, after re-calculating the physics answer. It accepted the IIT Delhi panel report which stated that there was only one right answer for the controversial physics question.
Around 23.33 lakh (23,33,297) candidates appeared in the NEET UG 2024 held on May 5 and 13,15,853 have qualified.

NEET Revised Result 2024: Marks vs rank
A candidate who appeared for NEET UG 2024 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh saw her All India Rank (AIR) drop from 30414 in the NEET UG result announced on June 4 to 31822 in her new result announced today by NTA. Her marks have decreased from 649 to 644. The loss of five marks resulted in her dropping 1,408 places in the NEET ranks.
“If I had 30000 ranks last year, I would have got a MBBS seat in a government college . But this year, NEET cut-off was high and it was marred with controversies of paper leak and court cases. I was still hoping for a government medical college. But, in the revised result, I lost five marks and my rank is now lower by over 1,400 places. I don’t think I would be getting a MBBS seat in a government college now. I was waiting for the Supreme Court order for re-exam of NEET but it did not order,” she said.
Another candidate who sat for NEET exam in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh had got 647 marks in the June 4 result and AIR 32047. Though he has the same marks in the latest result, he has risen 2982 places up the all-India ranks, to 29065. “With a change of nearly 3,000 points in my rank, my chances of getting a good government medical seat in my state for studying MBBS have increased. Though, I was waiting for the re-NEET through Supreme Court order, but now I am happy with my results. I am now waiting for counselling to begin soon,” he said.
NEET Result 2024: Fourth attempt
Another NEET candidate from Delhi saw his marks reduce from 629 in results announced on June 4 to 625 in results announced on July 26. His dropped from AIR 49484 to AIR 51229. He had studied independently, without enrolling in any coaching classes. It was his fourth NEET attempt. “NEET-UG 2024 exam saw everything – 155 candidates benefitting from paper leaks , rank inflation, maximum 67 toppers with AIR-1 in initial results, grace marks for time loss, use of two sets of question papers, re-exam of few students and three time results. This shows that NTA does not care about students. I worked really hard for my exam but the government does not care about hard work,” he said.
The 21-year-old aspirant won’t be sitting for NEET next year. “What will I do if the same things get repeated next year? I will lose another year without any fault of mine. If I do not get admission in an MBBS course at a government medical college, I will quit this field. If I do not get any college, I will waste another year as I have not given any other exam for admission to any other universities. My family won’t be able to support me financially for another year for my NEET preparations and hence I won’t give NEET-UG 2025. I am disheartened,” he added.

NEET Exam: 1 candidate, 3 results in 2024
A student from Delhi lost five marks in her final NEET UG 2024 result and fell 1900 places in the AIR. “NTA is so incompetent that it can not conduct a national-level exam without any irregularities. They conducted NEET-UG 2024 exam twice and announced the results thrice. Initially, my rank was 55685 in results announced on June 4. In the result announced on July 1, my rank was higher, 55675, and now it is a much lower 57570 – 1,885 points below my initial rank.”
“They are asking us to use new NCERT books for physics but hardly 5 lakh new books have been published and how can 24 lakh NEET aspirants access them ? There were two physics questions from old NCERT books which are not there in the new book but only one Physics question was debated in the Supreme Court during the hearing. While two schools in Jhajjar used a NEET question paper taken out from Canara Bank but candidates from only one out of those two schools were among 1,563 called for re-exam on account of loss of time. What about those candidates from other schools ? It was my third attempt and I had scored 620 marks in initial results and I should have got 15000 to 17000 ranks but due to NTA’s incompetency and question paper leak , I would have to sit for NEET-UG 2025. I am really upset and angry on NTA and government agencies probing NEET paper leak issue”
Out of three centers in Haryana's Jhajjar, two schools -- Hardayal Public School and Vijaya Secondary School, got papers from State Bank of India (SBI) and Canara Bank. They distributed both and later took back the SBI bank set from students. Except these two centers, candidates were answering SBI set of question papers n the rest of the country. Candidates from Hardayal Public School were among 1,563 candidates who sat for retest on June 23 .
NEET Controversy
While the NEET controversy began with rumours of paper leak, the NTA was in the spotlight for ‘unfair’ awarding of grace marks, conduct of the exam, and other irregularities . The NEET UG results were declared on June 4, in which 67 candidates bagged the top All India rank. The NEET marks, 718 and 719, obtained by two candidates also raised more questions on the normalisation method used by the NTA to prepare the merit list. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 21 people including MBBS students from Patna and Ranchi in six cases related to the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2024.
Since 2019, the NTA has been responsible for administering the NEET-UG for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private medical colleges across the country. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to commence the NEET UG 2024 counselling shortly. The MCC will publish a detailed NEET UG 2024 counselling notification and schedule soon on its official website, mcc.nic.in.
