NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the application window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2023) on Monday, March 6. The testing agency has made several changes to the exam this year. In addition to increasing fees and reducing the number of exam centres, NTA has also changed the tie-breaking rule.
Unlike previous years when age and NEET UG application number used to be among the criteria in NEET UG tie-breaking policy, NTA this year has removed them. The NTA NEET official website -- neet.nta.nic.in has made the NEET UG registration link active and the information brochure with details including application process, eligibility and exam syllabus. NTA will conduct the NEET UG 2023 exam on May 7.
The NEET UG paper will be held for four subjects -- Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
NEET 2023 UG Exam: Tie-Breaking Procedure
In NEET UG 2023 entrance exam, if two or more applicants taking the exam score the same NEET marks or percentile score, NTA will follow a tie-breaking methodology to break the deadlock and determine the inter-se-merit in this order --
1. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in biology (botany and zoology) in the test, followed by,
2. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in chemistry in the test, followed by,
3. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in physics in the test, followed by,
4. Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the test,
5. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany and Zoology) in the test, followed by
6. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in chemistry in the test, followed by
7. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in physics in the test
