NMC directs medical colleges to discontinue facial QR code-based attendance system

NMC has directed medical colleges to discontinue QR authentication from October 1 onwards and implement the FACE-based mobile Aadhar authentication app to mark attendance.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed all medical colleges to discontinue the facial QR code-based attendance devices from October 1 onwards. NMC has said that all faculty members should use the FACE-based mobile Aadhar authentication app to mark their attendance.
The commission has previously directed that all faculty member are required to install the FACE-based mobile Aadhaar Authentication App on their mobile phones.
Following this, all faculty members should have access to the designated mobile application and be familiar with the process for marking attendance via the mobile app.
“In this direction, it is conveyed that facial QR code-based wall-mounted attendance devices will be discontinued and will no longer be in use as of October 1,” the official NMC notice said.

It was previously directed that all faculty members are required to install the FACE-based mobile Aadhaar authentication app on their mobile phones, as per the user manual enclosed with the said notice.
“Therefore, all Medical Colleges and Institutions are directed to remove the QR code-based wall-mounted attendance devices and ensure that all users have access to the designated mobile application and are familiar with the process for marking attendance via the mobile app,” the official NMC notice adds.
Additionally, NMC has added 7,375 new medical seats in the MBBS seat matrix 2025. The commission has revised the MBBS seat matrix following the changes in existing seats and approved seats across the country. Furthermore, 456 seats have been reduced from NMC seat matrix 2025.
