NMC revises rates for establishment of medical colleges, validity periods of bank guarantees

NEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the fee structure for establishment of medical colleges in India and the validity period of performance bank guarantees. It urged all medical colleges to comply with the rationalization and revision in the rate as well as the period of performance bank guarantees furnished by the institutes from the academic year 2025-26 onwards.

As per the revised policy, the fee for establishing medical colleges for admission into 50 MBBS seats is Rs 15 crore for 6 years. For setting up medical colleges with 100 MBBS seats, the price is Rs 20 crore for 6 years; and an additional Rs 5 crore if applying for 50 more seats.
On the other hand, for establishing PG medical colleges or higher specialties, the rate is Rs 2 crore for 4 years. An additional Rs 25 lakh should be paid for each addition of course.
The NMC regulations on establishment of medical colleges, increasing seats and courses was notified on June 2 in the official Gazette of India and uploaded on the NMC website on June 8.
“This change is notified under the section 18(b) of the MARB notification no. M- 27011/01/2023-MARB dated 2nd June 2023 and same was also published on NMC website dated 8th June 2023,” the NMC said.
“Therefore, it is enjoined upon all concerned medical college/institute to comply and furnish bank guarantees / e-PBG with corresponding validity period and rates mentioned in above table for the purpose of application being submitted. This change is applicable from the academic year 2025-26,” it added.
