IIT Delhi: COVID-19 Situation
IIT Delhi had reopened last year when the Union Government issued "unlock guidelines" and relaxed restrictions on travel and education due to COVID-19. However, in March, with the onset of the devastating second wave of the pandemic, it first stopped the return of students to campus and then allowed students who had returned to the IIT Delhi campus to go home.
IIT Delhi lost several faculty members and at least one student to COVID-19. Emeritus professor Dinesh Mohan died of it in ….. and the institute's dean, infrastructure, KC Iyer , died in June. It also lost a research scholar who died of the coronavirus infection at home in May.
The institute also launched a low-cost test kit for COVID-19 last month.
