Registration portal for training programme on Indian Knowledge System launched for faculties of colleges

The UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has launched the registration portal for short-term training programme for faculty members in higher educational institutes.
NEW DELHI: The registration portal for short-term training programme on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) for faculty members in higher educational institutes has been launched today. July 17. The University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has launched the registration portal -- ugciks.in.
Addressing the faculty members at the online launch of the registration portal Kumar said that the primary objective of the training program was to sensitize our younger generation about the fact that India has been a knowledge society for thousands of years and has created and accumulated enormous amounts of knowledge in different disciplines.
In collaboration with the IKS Division of the Ministry of Education, UGC plans to organize six-day short-term training programs in the physical mode for 1,000 teachers at six human resource development centers (HRDC) during July and October 2023.
The six UGC HRDCs are RTM University Nagpur, BHU, Delhi University, University of Kashmir, Gauhati University and University of Madras. UGC has requested universities and colleges to nominate faculty members to attend the training programme from their institution to take part in the training programme which will be treated at par with that of the short-term programme under the scheme of UGC HRDC.
The UGC chairman further said that students should be encouraged to integrate this knowledge with contemporary scientific developments and technological innovations to find solutions to the challenges faced by human societies. He also mentioned that UGC had developed guidelines for training faculty members on the Indian Knowledge System and IKS Courses at UG and PG levels.
