BHU professor Santanu Kumar Swain appointed VC of Sikkim University

Santanu Kumar Swain, a professor at BHU who holds a degree in literature and a PhD has replaced Abhijit Dutta, the current vice chancellor of Sikkim University.
Santanu Kumar Swain has been appointed as the vice chancellor of the Sikkim University for a period of five years. He has been serving as the professor at the Banaras Hindu University.
Shreya Bhardwaj, Deputy Secretary to Government of India, in an official statement, stated: “I am directed to convey that the Hon'ble President of India in her capacity as the Visitor of Sikkim University , is pleased to appoint Prof. Santanu Kumar Swain, Banaras Hindu University as the Vice Chancellor of the University for a term of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office or until he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier."
Swain is a professor at BHU, and holds a literature and a PhD degree from Utkal University.

He has replaced Abhijit Dutta, professor at the department of Commerce, Sikkim University as vice chancellor. Dutta was an MCom student with a post graduate degree in DBM programme. He also holds a PhD degree.
BHU professor Swain has been with the Banaras Hindu University since 2007. He joined the university as an associate professor in 1996 after being in the post of assistant professor and associate professor at the Ravenshaw University.
In July this year, the
BHI also appointed Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi
as its new vice chancellor. He was previously a faculty member of the electrical engineering department at the Indian Institute of Kanpur (IIT).
