SVIET College Chandigarh suspends nine students for alleged clash

Apart from suspension, the SVIET College Chandigarh has imposed a penalty on these students amounting to Rs 5000 and Rs 7000.
NEW DELHI: About nine students -- four Kashmiri students and five students -- from different states were suspended by Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes (SVIET) College Punjab in connection with an alleged clash near the mess area and main gate of the campus on June 4, 2022. Apart from suspension, a penalty has also been imposed on these students amounting to Rs 5000 and Rs 7000.
The principal of the SVIET College Chandigarh has directed the students, in a letter, to submit an undertaking from their parents to their respective heads of departments (HODs) saying that they will not be part of any such in-disciplinary activities in the future. The principal further said that the students will remain suspended from classes until the payment of the penalty and submission of the undertaking.

The principal also informed the students that any more such incidents will result in the permanent suspension of these students from the college. The principal of the SVIET College Chandigarh issued the order suspending these students on June 6.
