Following the release of funds, the Tamil Nadu government will commence the admissions in schools under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act for the academic session 2025-26 today, October 6. Recently, Centre released the pending Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) funds after court orders.
The government will issue the Tamil Nadu RTE admission notification today for 25% seats reserved in entry-level classes of all unaided non-minority private schools. As per the admission schedule, schools will upload the 25% RTE seats on October 8 and the online registration will begin from October 9 on rteadmission.tnschools.gov.in.
While offering seats, the TN government will give priority to children belonging to the categories including orphans, HIV-affected or infected, transgender, scavengers, differently-abled. In case the number of applications exceed the quota limit, the directorate will adopt a random selection process.
Under RTE admissions, schools are not allowed to collect any tuition or admission fees from the eligible students.
