TNAU hosts 43rd convocation; Governor Ravi asks students to set target of 175 patents a year

Tamil Nadu Agriculture University: About 150 students who completed their higher studies from foreign universities participated in the convocation.
NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) held the 43rd convocation on Friday. Tamil Nadu Governor and chancellor of the university RN Ravi attended the TNAU convocation and interacted with the students.
About 150 students representing 15 key activities of the universities participated in the interaction, including students who did their research or twinning programmes and international internships in foreign universities, those who benefitted by using language labs, and drone pilots. Student entrepreneurs, those who obtained patents, and college students from other states, and TNAU award winners also took part in the convocation event.
The Governor talked about the performance of banks and fund flow to the MSME and entrepreneurs and how direct beneficiary transfer revolutionised the economy.
He said: “In the last few years, Rs 23 lakh crore was distributed to small and medium entrepreneurs under the MUDRA scheme. The Jan Dhan, Aadhaar and mobile has enabled access to banking for 50 crore people, of which 50 per cent were women.”

He urged the youth to adopt the new trinity, “research, innovation and entrepreneurship” and also ponder upon the question “what I did to make this country a developed one”.
He also highlighted how the collaboration between educational institutions and industry helps in increasing employment, encouraging research and also in developing need based products and services.
The Governor encouraged students to increase the number of patents and to set a target of 175 patents a year.
Governor said: “The duty of education intuitions is to create an enabling environment so that students can gain communication skills and articulate themselves very well. There will be an increase in use of technology for providing quality education for all.”
