UGC approves 1,247 MOOCs, reopens registration for Buddhist Studies courses for January 2024 semester
UGC has released the list of approved online courses at ugc.gov.in and reopened the registration for 4 MOOCs on Buddhist Studies at swayam.gov.in.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that the SWAYAM board has approved 1,247 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for the January 2024 semester. The commission has also opened the registration for four new MOOCs on Buddhist culture and tourism for the January 2024 semesters.
“I would like to inform you that the SWAYAM Board, in its 23rd Meeting held on 25.09.2023 under the chairmanship of Secretary (HE), D/o Higher Education, Ministry of Education, has approved 47 MOOCS (list attached) for the January 2024 semester on the SWAYAM Platform (www.swavam.gov.in),” said Manish Joshi, UGC secretary in an official notice.
The commission asked the vice-chancellors of universities and principals of colleges to share the courses with the deans and heads of the departments and said that they may adopt for credit transfer through your concerned statutory bodies as per the University Grants commission (credit framework for online learning courses through study webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) Regulations, 2021.
“UGC has developed 4 Moocs on "Buddhist culture and rourism" and offered these 4 Moocs in the January & July 2023 semester. These four Moocs were initially offered in the January and July 2023 semesters, and due to their significant popularity among learners and the academic community both in lndia and worldwide, these courses are once again open for registration for January 2024 semester on the SWAYAM platform,” Joshi added.
The commission requested the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to encourage their students and faculty members to enroll in large numbers.
NTA recently announced SWAYAM January 2024 exam dates. The exams will be conducted from May 18, 19, 25, and 26.
