UGC NET June 2026: NTA adds four new exam centres in North-Eastern states; edit city choices by May 28

NTA will conduct UGC NET 2026 exams from June 22 to 30 across the country; the application correction facility closes on May 28
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has added four new city options in the North-Eastern states for University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET 2026) applicants. NTA added the new exam centres in the North-Eastern region due to the limited number of exam centre options available for candidates.

NTA has opened the UGC NET 2026 June application correction facility, and the last date to make changes in the exam city centre is May 28. NTA will conduct UGC NET June 2026 exams from June 22 to 30 across the country.
Candidates can make changes in the date of birth, gender, category, sub-category, and exam centre in the UGC NET application form 2026. While changes in mobile number, email address, photograph and signature will not be accepted.
This year, UGC has added two more subjects , forestry and statistics, to the UGC NET 2026 subject list. UGC NET will be conducted in a computer-based test (CBT) mode for 87 subjects.

Candidates belonging to Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim can also opt for exam cities available in neighbouring North-Eastern States through the UGC NET 2026 application correction facility.
NTA conducts UGC NET exam twice a year in June and December for junior research fellowship and assistant professor positions, and also determines eligibility for admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges.
