The government granted Letters of Approval to the universities in the presence of the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the education ministry wrote on its X account.

Foreign universities to offer AI, Cyber Security, Data Science courses
“The campuses will offer future-focused academic and research opportunities in areas such as AI, Cyber Security, Data Science, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Creative Industries, Immersive Arts, Renewable Energy, Health, Transport and Education Technology,” the ministry said in its post.
On June 5, the University of Liverpool received approval from the education ministry to establish its branch campus in Bengaluru. The move was aimed to expand opportunities for Indian students seeking an international education experience without leaving the country.
The foreign universities were granted approval under the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), which aims to internationalise Indian higher education by inviting globally reputed foreign universities to operate within the country, it said.
“With campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru, these institutions will connect global education with India’s leading knowledge, technology and innovation hotspots,” it added.
In addition, in May this year, an America-based Illinois Institute of Technology had also received the formal approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up a new campus.
