UP Board announces new exam pattern for 2022-23; five monthly tests for Class 9, 10

Download NowNEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued the UP Board academic calendar for the session 2022-23. The UP Board exams will be held in March and a total of 5 monthly tests will be conducted for Class 9 and 10 students from this year, as per the new exam pattern announced by the board.

While announcing the UP Board academic calendar 2022-23, the state government also said that the Class 9 and 10 students will have to appear for written exams from this year and the question paper will be divided into two parts.
As part of the continuous assessment, the UP Board Class 9 and 10 will have to appear for three multiple-choice questions (MCQ) based exams and two descriptive exams. The first section of the question paper will have multiple-choice question with 30% marks in aggregate and the second section will have descriptive question with 70% marks in aggregate.

The new exam format is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020). The state government also announced that the first three monthly tests based on MCQ will be conducted in the last week of July and November, first week of February 2023. While the descriptive tests will be held in the last week of August and November.

As per the new UP Board academic calendar, the half-yearly practical exams will be held in the last week of September and half yearly written exams will be held in the second and third week of October.
The UP government further said that the syllabus for the upcoming academic session will be completed by January 20, 2023 for all classes.
The UP Board Class 10, 12 pre-board practical exams is scheduled to be held in the third week of January 2023. Whereas, the pre-board theory examinations of Class 10 and 12 will be held from February 1 to 15, 2023.
The practical exams will be conducted from February 16 to 28, 2023 and the UP Board Class 10, 12 examinations will be held in March, 2023, as per the new circular issued by the government.
