UP Heatwave: Schools to remain closed till June 28; red alert in 27 districts
UP Schools: The meteorological department has issued red alert for next 48 hours in 27 districts, primarily in the Bundelkhand region and neighbouring areas.

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh is currently experiencing severe heatwave, prompting the state government to implement various measures, such as postponing the reopening of schools following the summer break. Schools in the state, originally set to resume on June 18 after the summer vacation, will now remain closed till June 28.
The meteorological department has issued a Red alert for the next 48 hours in 27 districts, primarily in the Bundelkhand region and neighbouring areas. An Orange alert has been announced for 24 districts, including the state capital, Lucknow.
Red alert has been issued in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Basti, Gonda, Bahraich, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur districts.
Similarly Orange alert has been issued for Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Shravasti, Sitapur, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Ambedkarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Etah and Mainpuri and nearby districts areas.
UP Heatwave: Maximum temperature 7 degrees above normal
After 13 days this month, mercury once again broke its record in Bahraich. After 12 years, the mercury reached 45.2 degrees in June. Thursday was the hottest day of this month in June. The maximum temperature was seven degrees above normal.
According to the Meteorological Department, there will be no respite from the scorching heat and heat wave for three days. During this period, children, pregnant women and elderly people are advised not leave their homes unnecessarily.
