NEW DELHI: The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun is offering 20% scholarships to its female students to help them achieve their professional ambitions. The university began the “Girls Scholarship Programme” in the year 2020 to support girl students from across the country.
Girl students who belong to Uttarakhand are eligible for 46% domicile and scholarship, a statement from UPES said.
According to the university statement, over 1300 female students benefited from the scholarship programme last year. The university had received responses from students belonging to Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Haryana last year.
Most of the girl students applied for UG and PG programmes in computer science and engineering, health science, design, and business, the UPES statement said.
The scholarship is a part of UPES ’ initiative “Shakti” to empower women and support the journey of female students from “classroom to boardroom”, helping them become leaders of tomorrow.
