UPSC LDCE 2026 exam on March 8; registration begins for CISF assistant commandant vacancies

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Limited Departmental Competitive Examination 2026 on March 8 in New Delhi for filling vacancies of assistant commandants (executive) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The online registration for the UPSC LDCE exam has begun on the official website, upsconline.nic.in.

Twenty vacancies will be filled through a three-stage recruitment process. Of the total vacancies, 16 posts are reserved for general, 3 for SC and one for ST category. The UPSC LDCE 2026 exam is restricted to only certain categories of departmental candidates of CISF, as per the rules prescribed by the ministry of home affairs.

The application form was hosted on December 3 and will remain active until 6 pm on December 23. The commission has instructed candidates to ensure that all columns are filled correctly, as they will not be given a chance to edit their form.

After filling the form, applicants are required to route a hard copy of the online application form through a proper channel with necessary certification by designated officials to the CISF authorities at the address: Director General, Central Industrial Security Force, 13, CGO Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003.

The last date for submitting the printed copy is January 9 for further verification and forwarding the application to the commission.

Candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written exam will be called for the physical efficiency test and medical standard tests by CISF to check whether they meet the physical and medical standards specified in the ministry’s rules.

UPSC LDCE exam pattern 2026

The UPSC LDCE written exam will comprise two papers - paper 1 general ability and intelligence and professional skill and paper 2 essay, précis writing and comprehension. Candidates will be given an option to write essays in English or Hindi, but the medium of précis writing and reading comprehension will be English only.
