Earlier, the authorities had scheduled the VITEEE 2021 exam date from June 18 to 26. The exam was also supposed to be conducted as a centre-based test. However, due to increasing COVID-19 cases in India under the second wave of transmission, various entrance exams are being cancelled or switched to home proctored mode to avoid the spread of coronavirus infection.
The previous year, VITEEE exam was cancelled due to COVID-19 and lockdown. Admissions to the BTech programme at Vellore Institute of Technology were offered on the basis of Class 12 marks only.
